Who We Are

BJ Lawless, born and raised in Norwalk, CT, has been working in the restaurant industry for the majority of his life.

BJ opened BJ Ryan’s located at 57 Main Street in 2007. The NYC style pub features a “Cheers” like atmosphere & one of the best burgers around.

In 2011, BJ expanded the brand opening BanC House, the city’s first BBQ & Crab House located at 16 River Street. BanC House featuring fresh seafood specialties, house smoked bbq, two outdoor patios and an extensive whiskey, bourbon and craft beer collection.

In 2022, BJ took over the iconic Partner’s Cafe location in East Norwalk, naming it BJ Ryan’s East. Keeping with Partner’s family friendly atmosphere and famous thin crust pizza, East continues to thrive in this close knit neighborhood setting.

BJ’s fourth and most recent project, The Benjamin, an upscale French American Restaurant in Ridgefield, CT opened in June 2023.

In addition to four restaurants, BJ is the founder and President of the BJ Ryan’s Foundation. A 501(c)3 charitable foundation that has been directly giving back to underprivileged families and students in the Norwalk community since 2008.
